How Long Does ADHD Testing Take at Dr. Fischer Psychology?

If you’re considering ADHD testing for yourself or your child, you may be wondering how much time to set aside—and what the process actually involves. At Dr. Fischer Psychology, Dr. Fischer understands that your time is valuable, and she has designed the ADHD evaluations to be both thorough and efficient. Here’s what you can expect.

The ADHD Testing Timeline

ADHD evaluations at Dr. Fischer Psychology are typically completed in two to three appointments:

1.     Intake Appointment (In-Person or Telehealth) This session lasts approximately 1 hour. During this time, background information is gathered, including a review of mental health and medical health history, developmental and educational history, and social history. We talk in depth about symptoms that you or your child has been experiencing and how they have gotten in the way of functioning. This appointment is scheduled in-person or via telehealth.

2.     Testing Appointment (In-Person) This session lasts approximately 2 hours and takes place in our Issaquah, WA, or Bend, OR office. During this time, you or your child will complete a series of standardized assessments that measure attention, executive functioning, working memory, and related cognitive skills. Dr. Fischer also gathers behavioral data through questionnaires and clinical interviews.

Feedback Appointment (Telehealth) About two weeks later, you will meet with Dr. Fischer virtually for a 45 to 60-minute telehealth session to review the results. You’ll receive a clear explanation of the findings, a diagnosis if appropriate, and personalized recommendations for treatment, accommodations, or next steps. You will receive a copy of the report later the same day.

What’s Included in the Evaluation?

The ADHD testing process is designed to provide clarity—not just a label. Each evaluation includes:

·       A comprehensive clinical interview

·       Behavioral rating scales from parents, teachers, or partners

·       Cognitive and psychological testing

·       A written report with diagnostic impressions and recommendations

·       A feedback session to discuss results and answer questions

Dr. Fischer tailors each evaluation to the individual, whether it’s a child struggling in school or an adult navigating workplace challenges. Dr. Fischer will help complete accommodations letters for school and work.

Why Two or Three Appointments?

Splitting the evaluation into two to three sessions allows us to:

·       Conduct a focused, distraction-free testing experience

·       Analyze results thoroughly before providing feedback

·       Offer thoughtful, personalized recommendations during the follow-up

What Happens After Testing?

Following your feedback appointment, you’ll receive a written report that can be shared with schools, healthcare providers, or employers. Dr. Fischer is happy to coordinate with other professionals to support your treatment plan or accommodations.

If additional services are needed—such as therapy, coaching, or referrals—Dr. Fischer guides you through those options.
